Wedluxe Magazine Style File: A Nautical Affair

Published today Wedluxe Magazine’s Style File.

This nautical affair included lots of fun elements from Papier by Judy. Lots of navy blue, golds and metal accents were used and yes, Swarovski crystal elements to always make things sparkle!

So to this, I salute the high seas and say “All Aboard!”

The invitation suite included custom folded envelopes, maps, mini monograms, anchors and heraldic imagery. I played with layers and textures on the papers and included metal studs, grommets and rope to “tie” it all together.

A collection fit for a queen, wouldn’t you say?

A world of colour

One of the most asked question by any of your vendors will be: what are your colours? The colour of your wedding can bring life, interest and emotion to your event. Do you want to go monochromatic (tints, tones & shades of the same hue); this can add depth without being chaotic OR do you choose striking complimenting combos? Just remember that when choosing a colour palette try to stay with 2-3 colours as to not confuse or distract the eye.

So what can your weddings colours say about you?

RED: passion & love

ORANGE: energy, joy & warmth

YELLOW: freshness & cheerfulness

GREEN: harmony & life

BLUE: stability, loyalty & wisdom

PURPLE: romance & power

WHITE: innocence & purity

BLACK: power, formality & mystery

With a rainbow of colours and shades to choose from, what thoughts would you like your event to provoke? So when choosing your wedding colours, be bold, be unexpected, be YOU. Most of all, have fun with it!

Happy planning. Love Judy

Toast to a New Year!

As we wrap up our first official work week of the new year, I look back and reflect on 2012 and all the joy and blessings it was filled with.

I am grateful to all the things bestowed upon me – 2012 felt like a whirlwind year! On a personal front I thank life for giving me a doting husband to whom I celebrated my first wedding anniversary with. The pregnancy and birth of my brand new baby boy. My little one just turned 4 months today and I am already amazed and in awe of how something so little can intrigue and inspire me so! As I celebrated the holiday season with many great friends and oh so much family, it reminds me of the importance of these human connections and how laughter really is a cure for all. On the professional front I am humbled by the amazing people I have meet within the wedding industry. As I start and grow my business it is a great feeling to be in the company of so many wonderful and talented vendors who appreciate the story of love as much as I do! As a hopeless romantic I think I’ve hit the mark and have chosen an industry which allows me to listen to those heart melting stories between the love of a man and a woman, over and over again.

As wedding season fast approaches, I am busy at work dreaming up new custom designed invitations. Fresh new ideas, papers, textures and colours. A joy to be working at something that doesn’t quite feel like “work”.

So on this note, wishing everyone a very HAPPY NEW YEAR and may 2013 be filled with nothing but LOVE and joy!

Winner of the Creme de la Creme contest draw!

A draw was done to select a winner to receive up to $800 off their wedding stationery order. Congratulations to Veronica Ho of Vancouver! I am so excited for your August 2013 wedding!

In the spirit of the holiday season and the time of year when giving is at it’s highlight, I’ve decided to name a second winner! Congratulations to Nazanin Bahrabadi of North Vancouver. Your June 2013 wedding will be a splendid affair.

Happy planning ladies!

Crème de la Crème: a sight for the senses

by Judy Phan

Having wrapped up the Crème de la Crème grand wedding showcase last weekend, I am abuzz with inspiration and excitement for next year’s wedding season! The show delivered on lush florals, intricate decor, rich colours, decadent treats and of course… fabulous dresses – the brides (and grooms!) were in for a treat with items to entertain all their senses.

Here are a couple of photos of the tables displaying our custom designed stationery.

Custom designed invitations and supplementary items: Rich metallic papers, crystal brooches, ribbon accents and custom cut lucite plates are a few items integrated into these pieces above.

Wishing tree tags: An alternative to the typical guest sign in book. Have guests write a note with wedding well wishes, marriage tips and advice or even draw a picture to bring on a smile.

Personalized packaging: Monogram embossed boxes, custom tags, and personalized ribbon. Make your favors uniquely you!

The “Red” table: Amazing florals by Granville Island Florists and rich decor by Upright Decor. Papier by Judy supplied menues mounted on custom cut mirrored plates, table number with etched text on a vanity mirror and placecards personalized and mounted in mirrored compacts (for the ladies) and silver pocketwatches (for the men).

It was a wonderful affair. I met happy and eager brides, chatted with fellow industry leaders and had a great time! I can’t wait to work with the upcoming 2013 couples!

I am often asked how early you should start thinking of invitations. I suggest 4-6 months in advance. Earlier if you have many invitations being sent out of province or overseas. So to all you 2013 brides and grooms out there… happy planning and we’ll be chatting about your stationery needs really soon!

Also, stay tuned to hear the winner of our draw for up to $800 off their wedding stationery!
